Best Game! i love this Game
If you played the first LoS, then you realized Gabriel is really fighting Satan and he was deceived. He ended up becoming what he was fighting in the first place. In Mirror of fate, you found out how Alucard was born, and again, faith played against him. So he ended cursed and cursing his family as well.
In LoS 2, what Gabriel really wants is to die. The death (his old friend) tried to lured him with granting him his death. But Gabriel's real purpose was to defeat Satan and the Death once and for all. The only two survivors of the first LoS. He's trying to complete the duty that he once took. In order to succeed, Alucard must exist and be on his side. Gabriel alone wouldn't succeed. So this is why Trevor was hidden from his own father, and also why faith turned him into a being like his father, immortal.
At the end, LoS, at least for me, it's a great story. A story of a man who was good, and ended up being what he hated, but because he had a greater purpose. So he not only gave up his life, but his family. There's no greater "hero", than Gabriel. The first and last Belmont.
The first LoS is a story love. LoS 2 is a story of a man seeking redemption and his final rest.
I'd give it a 9/10. Because it's not perfect and I'd love a greater variety of enemies. Also, it somehow feel awkward to not try to defeat Dracula or stop his resurrection. This is more a game about good defeating evil at all cost.
However, this was a great way to finish the LoS saga.
